My educational background in UX comes from my master's in digital design and CUA certification. I possess 10+ years of experience in UX, extensively prevailed in service, product & start-up environments by working for the companies Apply Digital, Target, Scholastic, and HCL. Having received multiple awards for my design solutions, I have the domain and design expertise in Aerospace, E-commerce, Automobile, Medical, AR/VR, Food & games. Some of the clients I have worked with are Apple, Hyundai, Emirates, Panasonic, and Canada Goose.
I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others. I believe passing on the knowledge is the best method for me to share something back with the community and also allows me continuously learn & grow. Looking back, if I had a proper mentor or knowledge about UX, I would have done things differently in college and early days of my career. That's why I want to mentor newcomers, students and freshers and to help them learn more and do things much more effectively to help them in their career.

Innovation
I'm a UX Designer, Writer, and a UX Mentor. I specialize in branding and design strategy and I try to share what I've learned on my unconventional journey in design with as many people as possible.
I took the self-taught route into design and without the help of my mentors giving their time and knowledge to me, I wouldn't be here today. I feel it's only right I do the same for others. I am someone who understands that they don't know everything but they are willing to share what they do know and learn what they don't in order to help others. Mentoring is a two-way street. I learn from my mentees just as much as they learn from me.

About Me

Innovation
I started coding when I was 11 and always loved to create things. However, these initial programs did not quite consider users; they were designed around the structure of the language rather than how people would use them. Now I design experiences considering people, technology and business and I've been UX design for the last 5 years, creating digital experiences in the fintech space for both consumer and enterprise applications which include consumer banking experiences, enterprise administration tools, and analytical dashboards. I have been a part of the transformation in this company from an agency driven model to a product/user research driven model.
I've always wanted to give back, as when I started UX design there were a lot of mentors that helped me get into the field, but helped me become successful in my career. I have good listening skills and I'm able to help others reframe what they have done into a way that expresses their value in ways they did not think about before. I also am good about expressing new ways of thinking about projects and their impact.

I am a designer, mentor, foodie and cat dad. With my experience in advertisement, government consulting, and insurtech I’m a designer that adapts through ambiguity. My proudest work involves redesign IRS.gov where I collaborated with cross-functional teams to design a accessible, user-friendly experience. I also led a effort to win a multi-million contract with Amazon at Asurion to be their exclusion protection plan provider, by utilizing user research and empathy to drive solutions.
Mentoring has been my passion since I graduated high school. I was a instructor and mentor for my a high school marching band and watched the students grow up to be great leaders. In design, I’m passionate how individuals make a change in their career and chase after their dreams. I want to be a mentor for lifelong coaching and connections. Mentoring is a lifelong connection that helps others along their journey.

Hello! I’m Aleksandra

About Me
Specialisation
Innovation
I studied graphic design and came to the UK in 2007, and then worked as a project manager, moving to digital project management, and eventually UX, working for Radley Yeldar. During this time I was studying, and got an advanced diploma in Integrative Art Psychotherapy, at IATE, in London. I’ve worked for some big production studios, including Warner Brothers, Netflix, but have gone back to UX since 2020, and worked for some small agencies as well as Somo Global, who offered me a perm role which I accepted in January 2021. I still work on advertising graphics, most recently for H&M (via Mex Bellhouse), as well as other ‘passion’ projects in my spare time (I’ve helped Our Workshop, a South African NGO get online by building a website for them in 2020).
I’d love to be able to share my learnings and form new mentoring relationships so I can also learn about the experiences of the individuals I’d mentor. I’m a good listener, I think having experience across two ‘industries’ gives me insights which might be useful for people, I’m passionate about my career.

Hello! I’m Michael
UX Lead at Southern California Edison (SCE)
I joined as a mentor on March 11th, 2021
About Me
Specialisation
Innovation
My unofficial motto, "Improving people's lives through innovation" is guiding my career. I believe in change, and never enjoyed the status quo for its own sake. UX is my second career. I practiced architecture for almost 18 years, where I led a group of younger architects and ran the production department for a design/build firm, and where I learned a lot about design. I moved to Los Angeles and trained as an actor, where I learned a lot about presenting myself to people. I transitioned to UX by way of a Masters in Human Factors Psychology. I learned a lot about human psychology and user research methodologies and principles in grad school, and continued into my first job at Kelley Blue Book, where I did various types of user research and even created a research program. I happened to have done a concept for an app at Southern California Edison (SCE) that was so well received that I was asked to join SCE's Digital Accelerator, a 'startup' inside of the larger corporation. I now lead/manage UX with a very small team.
I have a keen sense of empathy, which is important in a learning environment. Contributing to that: I'm a good active listener, which is important in understanding where the mentee wants to go with their career/goals. I have patience, which is important because people don't alway understand quickly.

Favorite innovation: Vehicle electrificatoin and automation
“
Vehicle automation will reduce traffic deaths and improve traffic efficiency. It will change the makeup of our cities and would likely decrease the value of real estate (reducing the need for parking), and will allow independence for the elderly, the poor, and even children. Electrification will change the entire energy balance around the globe and reduce pollution, which threatens the health of people (mostly poor people), particularly in developing nations.

I’ve been in Design and Web Development since graduating from the Web and Multimedia program at the International Academy of Design in 2001. My primary interest is UX Design and Web Development/Design.
At Siemens, I became Team Lead of GUI Design and Development, creating company-coding standards and coordinating site builds for Internal and external Siemens departments and products. I went on to provide contract services for major Toronto web agencies such as Maclaren McCann, Blast Radius, Organic, CriticalMass, Nurun, Symcor for clients such as Michelin man, Uniroyal, BF Goodrich, Cisco, Primus, also has worked with many small to medium-sized companies as a freelancer.
Being the only woman in many of my teams as a programmer I learned to break barriers. Working with every possible brand and product as a designer and a programmer I have a highly creative and technical background I can share. Not only do I get to give my experience but I also learn a lot from the newcomers too. I like giving back to any type of community to help people grow and I myself grow during the period.

I was born and raised in a small country called Liechtenstein my heart always wants to explore the world. After gaining practical experience at one of the top three international digital agencies in Switzerland working for clients like Swiss Federal Railways, Swiss Post and Coop Mondovino, I decided to step outside my comfort zone. Next stop London – studying, living and working abroad has shaped my mindset and got me used to dealing with new situations and uncertainty. Eight years of experience in agencies, in-house design teams and freelancing taught me to be flexible while collaborating with diverse people in cross-discipline agile teams.
I worked with students in the past and really enjoyed it. It gives me a personal sense of satisfaction if I can help someone. I have had many different mentors in my life. I probably don’t label them as “mentors” but there are always people around me who are part of my adventures and whose advice I value. Having a strong mentor can have a significant impact in someone’s life and I want to give back to the community what I received without even asking for it.

Favorite innovation: Zipline
“
It’s a drone service which has been delivering hundreds of thousands of shipments of life-saving blood. I donate blood myself and know how crucial it can be to receive it at the right time. I love Zipline because it’s an innovation which saves lives. It connects areas of the world which would otherwise be cut off. Proven to work in extremes: from the hot California desert to the rainy mountains of Rwanda. Zipline's drones fly through real-world weather, day and night. A single flight can deliver up to 3 units of blood. For larger orders, multiple drones are sent at the same time. I love this project because it creates real value for people who would otherwise not have access or the time to receive the blood donation or life saving supplies they urgently need.

Innovation
I’m a digital designer specialising in UI, UX, and motion graphics. Having studied illustration at university, and from loving Design & Technology in school, I found my career sweet spot in the form of digital design. From having almost no experience in actual web design post-university, I managed to get work in a digital startup in Bristol where for a long time I was the only designer. Startups are intense, but I credit this one massively in my growth as I was forced to learn many different things, with minimal help, and do it really fast!
Later on I moved to London to join a young company called Mobile5 which specialised in HTML5 creative executions - originally mostly ads. Now called HYD, this company operated as an agency and allowed me to gain experience with a huge range of different types of projects and clients. Now, I have been the Design Director here for the past 3 years, it’s been a great journey from having started as a new designer and progressing up. We’re a digital creative agency, specialising in creating digital solutions - usually in the form of a website or app - for a range of clients.

My experience has been focused on leading global user research for international customers. I have a background in Psychology, which I studied at the University of Sussex before moving into a fintech firm, called Symphony. I worked at Symphony for 5 years where I discovered the true beauty of UX and really felt like I'd found my dream career. My research strategy here included a deep focus on ethnography. I led onsite research studies across the UK, France, Germany, Nordics, APAC and USA. This meant a lot of hours on trading floors, which was definitely an unusual and incredible experience! It was a blast and I had the opportunity to work with a world class team on a huge re-design of their entire product. I now work at ARRIVAL, where I lead UX research for their electric van. It's been an exciting challenge to move from solely a software focus to now look at how physical, digital and service design interact. I've been there over a year and it's hugely gratifying to feel like I'm actually doing good for the world as well as the people using our products.

I really enjoy being an integral part of product teams, I have hired designers to build stronger teams and am successful in supporting collaborative cross-functional teams. My experience covers e-commerce, Finance, Telecommunications, Mobile, Software, Pharmaceutical. I have lead UX workshops and presented in various locations.
I really believe in supporting and guiding our future gen designers into the world of design, they will be part of making changes and innovations in our future societies and planet. My own path into design was not easy, but I have lessons learnt from hard work! I have been fortunate enough to work across a variety of industries and I love meeting new people and who are interested in design.

Hello! I’m Jarvis
UX Designer at TBS Factoring Services
I joined as a mentor on March 1st, 2021
About Me
I'm a UX Designer, Writer, and a UX Mentor.

Both connect people and have allowed cultures and communities to connect very rapidly. Before it took decades for cultures and people to interact with each other. I would say at very core, both have enabled us to experience the humanity in others, seeing past political and corporate systems. I think it's important to understand the systems and structures that design creates.

Hello! I’m Corey
UX Director
I joined as a mentor on March 3rd, 2021
About Me
I started coding when I was 11 and always loved to create things.

Hello! I’m Kristian
Senior Product Designer at Microsoft
I joined as a mentor on March 8th, 2021
About Me
I am a designer, mentor, foodie and cat dad.

UX Specialist at Somo Global
I joined as a mentor on March 9th, 2021
About Me
I studied graphic design and came to the UK in 2007, and then worked as a project manager, moving to digital project management, and eventually UX, working for Radley Yeldar.

Hello! I’m Michael
UX Lead at Southern California Edison (SCE)
I joined as a mentor on March 11th, 2021
About Me
My unofficial motto, "Improving people's lives through innovation" is guiding my career.

About Me
I’ve been in Design and Web Development since graduating from the Web and Multimedia program at the International Academy of Design in 2001.

Hello! I’m Nancy
Senior UX Researcher at iTech Media

About Me
I've been in the UX industry for around 3 years. Having been a graduate in the past, I understand the importance of having a mentor to guide you to break into the industry. The market itself is top heavy, which means juniors are unable to get opportunities they deserve. I want to change the for the young talent that has so much potential to mark a mark in UX and bring a fresh perspective.
I love to share my knowledge, experience and expertise in the working world, for younger children it's hard to imagine and prepare for the working world, I want to help bridge that gap. I am empathetic and a listener and genuinely want to help and invest in others.

Hello! I’m Stephanie
UX Designer at Ministry of Justice London
I joined as a mentor on April 8th, 2021
About Me
I was born and raised in a small country called Liechtenstein my heart always wants to explore the world.

“
It provided a simple means for translating all human experience into a perfectly uniform, repeatable, infinitely extensible and shareable visual code. Supercharged by the printing press the knowledge encoded in phonemic writing systems led to the formation of the modern individual, nation states, mass markets, science as we know it, and capitalism. The development of the internet will have similarly radical effects on how modern society evolves.

Hello! I’m Adam
Head of Design at HYD Ltd
I joined as a mentor on April 30th, 2021
About Me
I’m a digital designer specialising in UI, UX, and motion graphics.
I’m mentoring: Career advice, interview techniques, job search techniques, portfolio and CV review

Specialisation: UX Design, Graphic Design, Management, Branding, Motion Graphics, Copywriting

Favorite innovation: Humanization of completely in-human technologies
“
Yes it's scary, but if we design them ethically, they can bring so much value. It is remarkable to me that we are starting to name machines and think of them like humans. I have to unashamedly say that my current favorite example of this is my robot vaccum - what an invention!

Hello! I’m Emily
Lead UX Researcher at ARRIVAL
I joined as a mentor on May 11th, 2021
About Me
My experience has been focused on leading global user research for international customers.
